More orders out of the same traffic

The ordering process decides whether a full basket turns into an order. We measure where customers drop out and fix the cause in the shop - with a proven extension or with code of our own.

When does it pay off?

Four occasions worth a closer look

Conversion work pays off from a certain order volume onwards. With a handful of orders a month we say so in the first conversation.

  • A high drop-off rate at checkout

The basket fills up, the order never arrives. We look for the point where it tips over.

  • Too many steps to the confirmation

Every extra click costs completed orders. On a phone considerably more than at a desk.

  • Errors in forms and addresses

Wrong entries only show up at dispatch. The returned parcel costs twice.

  • Baskets left behind

Customers rarely come back on their own. A reminder at the right time brings some of them back.

What we do

Five fields of work

  1. 01

    Measure instead of guess

Evaluating the path from basket to confirmation and naming the points where it breaks.

  2. 02

    Tighten the checkout

Merging steps, questioning mandatory fields, ordering payment methods sensibly.

  3. 03

    Forms that work

Address checking, autocomplete and error messages people understand - operable by keyboard too.

  4. 04

    Bring back abandoned baskets

Reminders with a delay you set, inside the shop instead of through a third-party system.

  5. 05

    Sell on in the basket

Showing matching articles and available vouchers without taking the customer out of the process.

Where we stand

Conversion work starts with figures from your shop, not with a list of general recommendations. What worked elsewhere need not work for you.

We look at your data first: where the path breaks off, on which device, with which payment method. Only then do we decide whether a setting, an extension from the Store or custom code is the answer. Every change is then measured against the numbers we started with.

From our own Store portfolio

Proven parts instead of new development

Where one of our extensions covers the requirement, you save the development. Where none fits, we build it.

How it runs

From the analysis to a measured effect

  1. 01

    Analysis

Evaluating the path through the ordering process, the devices and the payment methods.

  2. 02

    Priorities

Ordering the measures by expected effect and effort.

  3. 03

    Delivery

Bringing changes onto a test environment one at a time and traceably.

  4. 04

    Measurement

Checking against the starting figures after the go-live and sharpening what is left.

FAQ

Frequent questions

What pays off in your shop depends on your figures. These answers hold regardless.

From what size does this pay off?
As a rule of thumb from around 500 orders a month. Below that the figures fluctuate so much that the effect of a change cannot be shown cleanly. For smaller shops the assortment, the prices and the visibility are usually the bigger levers - and we say so.
Do we need an analytics tool for this?
Usually what is already running is enough. Shopware itself and an existing web analytics tool deliver the figures on the ordering process. If neither exists, we set up a privacy-compliant measurement before we change anything - without starting figures nothing can be proven afterwards.
How quickly is an effect visible?
Individual measures take days to weeks to implement. Proving the effect then needs enough orders to rule out chance - depending on volume, two to six weeks. That is why we change things in stages instead of all at once.
Does this work together with accessibility?
It helps it. Clear labels, error messages people understand and a checkout that works without a mouse lower the drop-off rate and meet the BFSG requirements at the same time. We check both in one pass.

Where are you losing orders?

The checkout analysis shows where people drop out and what fixing it realistically costs. If an extension from the Store is enough, we say so.
